The enquiries you lose are the ones you never hear about.
A prospective client rings at ten past seven. Nobody answers. They do not leave a message and they do not ring back. They ring the next practice on the list. Nothing about that appears in your figures.
Most enquiries land in the white space either side.
Illustrative only. The marks above are drawn to show the shape of a working day, not measured data from any practice. The point they make is real enough: your phone and your inbox do not keep office hours.
Nobody complains about the enquiry they never made.
A missed call leaves no record worth reading. An email that sits unanswered for three days looks identical, in your inbox, to one answered in ten minutes. The loss is real and it is invisible, which is why most practices assume it is small.
The research on this is not flattering.
Roughly a third of law firms reply at all to an email from a prospective client. That figure has fallen from around 40 per cent in 2019.
Industry research into legal sector responsiveness
Around 35 per cent of calls to small and mid-sized firms go unanswered during business hours. Not evenings. Not weekends. While the office is open.
2026 legal sector research
Both figures are drawn from published sector research and are quoted here as such. Neither is a measurement of LS8 Digital's own work.
This is the thing itself, not a picture of it.
Below is a working intake assistant. Ask it what it does, push back on it, try to catch it out. It is the same build a practice would have on its own site, pointed at LS8 Digital instead of at a firm.
If it holds up here, it will hold up at ten past seven on a Tuesday.
An assistant first. A website around it.
Client intake, out of hours
It sits on your site and answers the questions people actually ask before they ring. It takes the enquiry, asks what a good receptionist would ask, and writes it up. You get a summary with the name, the matter, and how urgent it sounded.
It does not give advice and it is not pretending to be a solicitor or a dentist. It captures the enquiry properly so that the person who picks it up in the morning is not starting from nothing.
The site it sits on
Most practice websites were built to be a brochure. If yours needs rebuilding around the enquiry rather than around the brochure, that is part of the work.
If your site is already fine, it stays. The assistant can go on what you have.
It is set up on what your practice actually does
Your areas of work, what you take on and what you do not, how you want people spoken to.
It answers, at whatever hour
Evenings, weekends, and the stretch of the day when the phone is engaged and everyone is with a client.
It asks the qualifying questions
What the matter is, roughly when it needs dealing with, and how to reach them.
You get it in writing
A summary of the enquiry lands with whoever handles intake, along with the full conversation if you want to read it.
The questions worth asking first.
Will it start giving legal or clinical advice?
No. It is set up to capture enquiries and answer questions about your practice. It is instructed not to advise, and it says so if pushed. If you want it narrower still, that is a setting, not a rebuild.
What happens when it does not know something?
It says it does not know and takes the details so a person can answer properly. That is the honest behaviour and it is the one worth having. You can test it above.
Will it sound like a chatbot to my clients?
You have just read how it sounds. That is the whole reason the demo is on this page rather than a video of one. If the tone is wrong for your practice, the tone is written text and it can be changed.
What does it cost?
It depends on the practice and what it needs, so there is no figure on this page. Ask the assistant for your details to be passed on, or send an email, and you will get a proper answer rather than a headline number.
A small studio in Leeds, and one person.
LS8 Digital is Molik, working out of Leeds. That means you deal with the person doing the work rather than an account manager, and it means only a small number of practices can be taken on at a time.
It also means being straight about where things stand. This is new work and there is no roster of law firms to point at. What there is, is the assistant on this page, running live, which you can push as hard as you like before you speak to anybody.
